YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is a leadership training program for 11th & 12th grade students. The YLC students have the opportunity to create and organize events, run games, lead discussions and are placed in a rotation for giving short devotional-style messages for the youth group. They also provide regular input on how the youth group is run and make suggestions on what could be added/edited. The YLC meets bi-weekly on Sunday evenings and for a yearly Sailing Retreat.
Get Plugged In: Contact Youth Pastor Connor Hendrix at connor@bluewatermission.org for general inquiries about the Bluewater Youth program and services. Most regular communication, announcements, group and individual messaging and updates for Bluewater Mission Youth happen on the Slack app for both parents and youth.
To be invited to the Slack app: email connor@bluewatermission.org to be a part of regular Bluewater Youth communication with the email you would like to receive an invitation on.
The Bluewater Youth ministry is dedicated to helping middle & high school students get to know God, discover His purpose for their lives, and walk out their faith in the midst of a supportive community.
At Bluewater, we believe that faith is an action step spelled “T-R-Y” and as a youth group, we prioritize trying, together. We dive into the Bible on a weekly basis to understand God’s heart for humanity and read the stories of faith and how ordinary people struggled and succeeded to live out God’s purpose for their lives.
We have group discussions (divided up by age groups) on how we can take scripture and apply it to our lives practically. We believe that everyone can develop their ability to hear God’s voice for themselves and others, and practice using the gifts of the Holy Spirit on a regular basis.
Bluewater Youth emphasizes having fun together to help cultivate authentic community. We eat dinner as an ʻohana and regularly play a variety of wild group games and sports and also have card games, board games, foosball and ping pong at the beginning and end of every youth group time. We also host many special events throughout the year such as camping trips, holiday parties, and a yearly trip to Kona Commission Camp on Hawaiʻi Island.
